Environmental Science

Probably one of the most popular classes at Penn Yan, this course is designed to explore the environment. Many units are outdoor activities which focus on environmental problems and the management techniques used to prevent and to solve these problems.
Topics include terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, population dynamics, recycling, pollution, soil conservation, forestry, wildlife and integrated pest management.
  • Students will:
  • Raise trout to be released into the Outlet 
  • Raise Ring Neck pheasants to be released in the Penn Yan area.
  • Participate in the County and State Envirothon Contests as part of class, 
  • Can compete in the NY FFA Forestry Contest.
This class can count as a 3rd unit of Science
