Advanced Construction

Advanced Construction is an instructional program that prepares students for employment or continued education in the occupations of Carpentry, Electrical Wiring, Masonry, or Plumbing. Advanced Construction is a continuation of Construction Systems and provides advanced instruction and practical applications in each area. Its objectives are:

● To further reinforce and master shop/construction safety precaution and awareness
● Identify and practice requirements to achieve professional and disciplinary outcomes
● To independently practice advanced carpentry, electrical wiring, masonry, and plumbing projects and
    applications
● To develop technical and job skills related to careers in the construction industry
● To reinforce reading and interpreting construction blueprints and creating material and cost estimates
● To further practice hand and power tool use

*Prerequisites: Construction Systems and 1 additional credit in CTE 34 Engineering Courses

NOTE: Since many colleges require portfolios of student work, it is recommended that all students interested in Art,
Drafting or Drawing begin working on their portfolio in the ninth grade. See your instructor for more information.
