Heather Wachob
In her two years at Penn Yan Academy, Wachob made her presence known as a standout athlete. Before moving to Penn Yan prior to her Junior year, Wachob was an exceptional swimmer (and track and field athlete) in San Diego. At Penn Yan, Heather excelled in the throwing events. Her junior year, Heather won leagues and sectionals in the shotput and discus. She competed in and won the Empire State Games. As a senior, she again won leagues and sectionals on her way to finishing second in the state in discus and first in shotput . She set a new state record in the shotput. In 1981, Heather was named as an All—American Honorable Mention.
