Coach Sue Gute

Coach Sue Gute2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the passing of Title IX, the landmark legislation that sought to bring equality to Women’s sports .  Coach Sue  Gute was one of the first coaches for girls athletic teams at Penn Yan Academy. Coaching Cheerleading in the 1960’s and 1970’s, Coach Gute began coaching Girls Soccer in the early 1970’s.  Coach Gute’s  soccer teams were League Champions in 1977, 1984, and in their undefeated 1988 season.  Coach Gute was awarded Finger Lakes Soccer Coach of the Year following the 1988 season.  An avid golfer and 30 year member of the PYA football “Chain Gang” she has remained active in the school and community since her retirement from the District
